Energy Law and infrastructure

Extensive Experience

The partners of our Firm have participated in and acquired extensive experience with renewable energy generation projects, including wind, photovoltaic, combined cycle, and hydroelectric facilities—along with associated electrical substations and transmission lines.

Legal Support

We provide legal support from the public bidding stage (with CFE or the private sector), including analysis of bidding guidelines, due diligence, financing, execution of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and the drafting and negotiation of EPC, BOP, TSA, and O&M contracts, as well as all necessary subcontracts for the construction and commercial operation of the project (NDAs, supply, service, lump-sum or unit-price contracts, and civil and electromechanical works).

Project Execution

We draft official letters, legal briefs, communications, and logbook notes; identify critical events and liquidated damages; manage change orders and ensure the provision of guarantees and insurance policies. Our goal is to help our clients fulfill their obligations toward the final client—extending this support to subcontractors as well, under back-to-back arrangements.

Permits and Authorizations

We provide strategic legal support in obtaining permits, licenses, and other authorizations at the federal, state, and municipal levels (including SENER, CRE, CFE, SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, INAH, among others). This includes construction permits, land use approvals, environmental licenses, road access feasibility reports, and more.

Contract management

We provide legal support in contract and claim management for both the main contract and all subcontracts necessary for the successful execution of the project. This includes drafting, negotiating, and executing contracts with subcontractors (construction), suppliers (materials), and service providers, as well as handling purchase orders,  intention letters, amendment agreements, and termination or settlement agreements.

Claim Management

This is further strengthened by the formulation and negotiation of claims with both the end client and subcontractors or suppliers, including the enforcement of liquidated damages and the execution of performance bonds.
